mmr4leo2.jpgI don’t know what I did, in this or any life, to earn such an amazing community of support. The Boy and I have been going back and forth between Seattle and Portland so much, I had begun to loose my sense of which end of the journey was home, and which end the visit. Things like this make very clear where both my home and heart are

  • I suspect that there are a lot of people who would happily donate a portion of their liver to help Leo. Would a living donor transplant work in his case?

  • I am just blown away by the kindness and compassion behind this query, thanks so much.
We have talked to the docs about live-donor donation, and it is a theoretical option, but they say they would prefer not to go that route at this point. One reason is that the surgery in very invasive for the donor, and the recovery much longer and more complicated. More so than the procedure for donating a kidney.

I have had friends ask Leo’s blood type (O+) and expressed interest in being a donor, and certainly if things get more dire, the docs might revisit that possibility. In the mean time, this groundswell of support and love is doing wonders for The Boy and I. Thank you over and over again!
